Our review of Seven Seas Viognier, 2010.
SRP: $24, avg retail
Varietal: 100% Viognier
Color: Pale golden yellow with a hint of blush
Notes: Warm, medium bodied, with creamy tropical fruits. Floral and lush, but not sweet, if you’re a California Chardonnay drinker, this one is for you. Banana and peach on the nose, with a bright, clean citrus finish. Malolactic acid is present. Very refreshing.
Pairing: This juicy white wine will pair well with delicate fish dishes, ceviche, and poultry, as well as mild aged cheeses. Goat or sheep’s milk cheddar with water crackers, kiwi, and guava would be a perfect fit.
Overall: Perfect wine for summer or fall, at an affordable price. If you’ve got a chardonnay drinker in your party crowd, this wine will impress.
Winemaker Notes:
Eager and willing flavors of honeysuckle and pears promise to take your taste buds to the next level, and where you stop, nobody knows! Lush, rich and crisp, our golden treasure finishes on a spicy note, leaving you begging for more. Grapes come from the famous Hidden Oak Vineyards in Paso Robles, California. Hand-picked at optimum ripeness, whole cluster pressed and cold fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the natural flavors. 85% un-oaked; 15% new oak.
